Good Evening,
Where is the best mysorepak you have ever had? Let me tell you my choice. Venkateshwara sweet meat stall ! (VSMS as it would be referred in the article below). I am sure you might have heard this name before. This sweet meat stall has been around since 1954.
This week end i had been to the VSMS outlet in gandhi bazaar area. This stall is located on the gandhi bazaar main road.
They call themselves as the ”mysorepak people” as the mysorepak has been their delicacy . How ever they have a lot of varieties of sweets to offer and their menu has numerous delicious sweets/savories and snacks that you can relish in a small yet intresting location. VSMS offers a wide variety of good quality sweets/savories/snacks that you can think of.
As soon as you enter the place you would need to pass through a small passage the side of which the sweets have been arranged in glass shelves. There are around 3-4 such huge shelves which eventually leads you to a place where all the savories have been placed.
After this is a chat/snack corner opposite to which are placed 6-7 colorful tables with a appx seating capacity of 4 people each.
They also offer a decent washing place with drinking water which is essential. The place is also a host to a air conditioner to keep you cool while you relish your favourite sweet/snack.You can find a huge variety of snacks including pav bhaji’s , channa batura , samosa’s, veg rolls , pani puri , bhel puri , badam milk , milk shakes , icecreams (to name a few) and a long list for you to choose from.
The snack menu had been stuck to a pillar with a pretty decent , organized and colorful presentation.
The only drawback is that the billing area is a bit cramped and is on the way where people have to enter /exit the place.
The rates i should say are in par with other competitors (though i wish they were slightly lower) and VSMS offers probably the widest variety of sweets that you can imagine. The place is most suitable for evening snacks and for buying/ordering sweets for various party occasions. It can also be a good “adda” for college students looking for a place for treats.
Now the fact sheet !
Rating for features : (5 stars indicating very good)
1) Ambience – ****
2) Quality of food – *****
3) Choices(Variety) - *****
4) Service/Hospitality – ****
5) Pricing – ***
So are you ready for a sweet’ish treat?

Good Evening,
The indian airforce is soon going to be equipped with 5th generation fighter aircraft’s , but how soon? the question remains unanswered. The fifth generation multirole , stealth aircraft which existed on paper a few years back is now a existing machine in russia and the russian version has had a successful first test flight.
Yes , India and Russia will soon roll out one of the finest fighter jets which would be fully stealth and it is called the sukhoi PAK-FA. There would be two versions one for the russian and another for the IAF best suiting their respective war fares. What is more intresting to know is that , looks like this fighter is being built as a competitor for the american F-22 Raptor which is supposed to be the best stealth fighter existing in today’s world.
The indian version of it would be a twin seater and the russain version would be a single seater. I think its high time the IAF starts replacing the MIG squadrons with 5th generation figthers. Sukhoi PAK-FA’s and the Sukhoi-MKI’s would make a lethal combination and would send jitters to the enemies.
Finally for all those avaiation enthusiast’s waiting to see how the new stealth monster looks like , here is a real pic of the sukhoi PAK FA (courtesy : Moscow times):
Waiting to see this machine in action soon……

Good Evening,
Idlis , Dosas …… Sounds familiar? I am sure they do(for those who do not know these are some of the most common and delicious south indian breakfast/snack dishes). The basic and the only significant ingredient that is required to prepare this dish is the dough and when we talk about dough what’s the easiest way to prepare it? wet Grinders! (I know this is nothing new and neither i am trying to present a thesis or trying to explain how to make the dish
.
We had a need to buy a wet grinder (a lighter one and modern one) to replace our old electric grinder which is a hefty one that you find in the grain mills. It weighs roughly around 30-35kgs and can help you build muscles if you are medelling with it frequently
.
I had a look at a few common brands in the market and finally chose the one for us. Curious?…….. It’s called the ULTRA which is a table top wet grinder. I decided to write a review because i am quite impressed with the way it is designed and the way it works. I would say it can be a asset to the house wives looking for a light and efficient wet grinder.
The features that are significant for any table top wet grinder are as follows:
a) Weight – This one is really light and light enough that older ladies too can handle it with ease.
b) Grinding Efficiency – This is excellent too. Roughly 1 kg of rice would take 20minutes for a perfect grind. This saves a lot of eletricity and time.
c) Ease of cleaning – The container is detachable and the stones are positioned in a way that are eaisly rotatable and can be cleaned with bare hands. (A small soft brush would make the cleaning even better if you want it sparkling all the time).
This grinder is priced at appx Rs.5700.
For those who look for ratings in my opinion the Ultra takes a easy 4.5 stars out of 5 . I would definitely recommend this product for any body who is looking for a modern wet grinder.
Enjoy your Idlis/dosas with a ULTRA……

Good Evening,
Are you planning to buy a car in the near future? Then WAIT…….. there is some good news for you. The Auto expo show at delhi this year has been a center of attraction and has drawn unbelievable crowds as it usually does. There have been some sparkling revelations from the major’s.
All the big names are set to roll out small cars planned for india. Volkswagen , Toyota , Honda , Chevrolet are some of the important names that are being heard. The interesting thing is they all come with a fairly affordable price tag (appx 3.3 – 5 lakhs). So if you are planning for a new car in the near future its worth a wait till these new machines hit the roads.
Some pics for you (Courtesy : autoblog.com):

Hi All,
A question just struck me. Do we need to work hard or work smart to be successful in professional life? I do not want to hear a reply sounding both ! I know there could be a thousand perspectives to this and a million opinions , i decided to bring this on my blog because this is something that the working community today find difficult to get an answer ,especially the corporate ones.
Of course! if each of you had asked this question to your bosses the reply could vary , but what’s best is something subjective and debatable.
Me being a IT professional have listed down my views on both . These are things that i have noticed , heard and seen in my daily life: (this may sound more close to a IT perspective , excuse me if it does)
Hard Worker :
a) Stay late at office immaterial of if you have anything to do or not.
b) Take minimal coffee breaks.
c) Look around for your boss before leaving your seat. Don’t if he/she can see you.
d) Do something that would take a 1 hour in 3 hours and tell people that the task was daunting.
e) Stay late genuinely even if one could do the work the next day to ensure you have some
breathing time tomorrow.
f) Make sure you tell your boss every trivial thing you do which is ideally what is expected out
of you.
Smart Worker:
a) Plan your work as soon as it arrives so that you dont have to stay late.
b) Take as many breaks as you think you can with out affecting your work.
c) Not conscious about who is around and who is not , i do what i do attitude.
d) Stay late at office only when it is required to but prefer not to.
e) Assume that what you are doing is what you get paid for and not tell your boss evey small
thing you do to get his kudos. (Any ways the boss would know what you do in most cases ,
thats what they get paid for!).
Both of the above thesis listed have their own pros and cons. I myself have seen individuals who have had success in both these approaches (or nature if you wanna term it) though the ratios vary.
I personally feel that being a smart worker is the need of the hour. How ever this approach sometimes may not really take you where you intend to go. I would say working smart would be the best thing if you have a smart boss (professionally) and who realizes that at the end of the day , the work being done on time and at its best is what matters. But the above statement itself has a negative side to it. What if you don’t have a professionally smart boss?
There lies the problem! Because there are a lot of people who promote what they do and what they are. Some bosses get impressed if you are a late stayer and if they see you on your seat till they call it a day. Once you brand yourself as ‘Hard Worker’ it stays till you have the same boss. So don’t worry if you are a ‘hard worker’ you have something to cheer about
.
I have seen managers who justify their stand that staying late can add value to one self and the organization. How many of them really do ? Is that the only way you can add value ? That’s ridiculous ! You can’t make people do good things by expecting them to stay late or glue them to their seats. Good ideas best evolve when people are let to do what they do best and in an ambience of their choice ( I assume no body would want to write a white paper in a pub
.
I am not trying to abet that people should be let at their will , what i mean is once a piece of work is assigned , the person should be given the liberty to plan his/her work to stick to the planned schedule and should have the liberty to utilise their free time to add value in their chosen (convenient) way. Every individual will have a sense of responsibility and guilt which needs to be utilised in a justified way and this pratice should turn out to be a habit over a period of time. Once done , its like a train on a track , you dont need to steer it very often.
The bosses and the reportees should develop a level of trust , which is the key for getting the most out of individuals. Stringent rules and constant monitoring don’t help , but make matters worst. You don’t need a missile to tame an elephant but a little sharp object , sugar cane and a bit of training should do the job
. I hope the readers understand what this means in a corporate language.
So what do you want to be ? a hard or a smart worker? I am waiting to hear……

Hi All,
As usual another week end just came in as a releif to my hectic work schedule. We decided to drop in to a food court with a few family friends. Thanks uncle! (he knows who i am referring to if he reads this) from rescuing me from an possibility of a word war among the ladies in the group to come up with a choice . We landed at maiya’s (BTM Layout , Bangalore , a authentic south indian restaurant which is coined by a former member of the MTR group) at around 7:30pm this saturday.
Not to mention even the smallest of food places in bangalore would be crowded on a week end (I wish i own a restaurant some day
). To my surprise the place was not excessively crowded when we got there .
(Address : – 737/C 7th Cross, 12th Main , BTM Layout , Bangalore)
The first thing that awaits you at the entrance is a sweet corner . Yes my mouth did water seeing the wide variety of sweets , but i knew they were not our first choice so we went straight up to the place where the meals are served (we were directed to the second floor).
We did not have a problem finding the right table. (I think the max seating available per table ranges from 4 to 7) .
The ambience is pretty decent with some good kannada numbers in the background and the tables just in line with MTR , the good old marble ones.
The waiters do justice to their job and ensure that your tables are occupied with the meal plates (the compartment types) and the items follow. Don’t be surprised if you see a silver tumbler there! Yes it is a part of the menu and you would have the privilege to sip some sweetened black grape juice in a silver tumbler. (Yes of course !the silver tumblers are meant to be returned once you are done
so no gain if you have deep pockets..lol)
As far as the number of items that are served in a meal go , i should say they are enough to fill the most starved belly on earth. They are a good combination of sweets and savories that can sate any killer hunger. The puris that were served there are the best i have ever tasted .
Talking about the variety of food ( i meant the food styles) there aren’t many , you have a choice of special south indian and regular south indian meals(this one is available on all days except on sat and sun) in the evenings and a limited list of choices for the first meal of the day.
I found the food tasty enough to have your taste buds stand up and the price you pay for it is well justified. The special meals is priced at Rs.100 and the regular ones (this exclude some items like sweets and fruit salad with icecream) is priced at Rs.50.
I was personally not very impressed with the dessert , how ever i think it could be because i was full when i got to the dessert.
I was told that the dosas taste awesome and i would wanna try them for my breakfast the next time i get there .
Rating for features : (5 stars indicating very good)
1) Ambience – ****
2) Quality of food – *****
3) Choices(Variety) - ***
4) Service/Hospitality – ****
5) Pricing – *****
If you are planning to get there on a weekend i would say it would be a good choice to get there between 7:30pm and 7:45pm to avoid waiting and to find some parking place around.
If you think you want to relish some good authentic tasty south indian food , maiya’s is the place to go. So what are you waitin for?

Hi All,
Yes the winter has heralded its arrival! . I got up this morning and i knew something was missing. It took a while for me to figure out what it was and finally i realized my bedroom was much darker than it used to be early morning. Alas ! Where did the brightest star go today?
Its been a while having seen the typical bengaluru winter. The gloomy clouds , the cold breeze forced me to search for my woolen fabrics. After some spicy breakfast i had some good strong coffee (thanks mom!) and got myself ready to take up the bangalore traffic.
The strange thing was i didn’t see the sun the whole day and the gloomy weather looked unperturbed and finally the day ending with some light showers. I kept myself wrapped with my woolen jacket the whole day ( I am still wearing it
).
I managed to click a couple of pics of the gloomy yet fascinating clouds that have formed a canopy over bengaluru for the past couple of days . Enjoy !

Good Afternoon,
I decided to buy another mobile phone as a backup to my existing one (if you were wondering why? , my current phone is a flip model and i think it would retire soon
). I didn’t have second thoughts on my mind as far as the brand goes as i have been a nokia man always , yet i wanted a phone which would fit my budget and of course didn’t want to miss out on some basic but key features for my usage.
I went down to big bazaar where i bought all of my mobile phones till date and i explained my requirements to the shop keeper. In short i wanted a mobile phone that was not too simple nor a hi-fi gadget but a moderate and a cost effective one .
Luckily my eyes caught a phone which appealed to me at the first sight. The Nokia 2600 ! . No i didn’t decide that was my buy just by the looks of it , i decided to dig more in to it.
Does it have a camera ? ‘Yes’ came the reply
Does it have Bluetooth? ‘Yes’ came the reply
Does it have FM? ‘Yes’ came the reply
And then the biggie !
How about the price? ‘Rs.3100 sir’ was the reply.
That’s the kinda combo i was looking for ! I didn’t have to enquire about the battery life since i knew one of nokia’s strong points has always been the battery. The Nokia 2600 is slim handy phone which would make an impression at the first look and the features would satisfy anybody would is looking for cost effective phone with moderate features.
However every gadget would have some cons and the only noticable con that i think is that the UI (User interface) is a bit slow but i think as long as you are not excessively impatient you can live with it
. So i humbly handed over my credit card and the rest followed.
I have been using the phone for over a week now and i am quite impressed with the gadget. So if you are looking for a phone around the 3k range and if you don’t wanna miss out on the minimum goodies , i think nokia 2600 is the right buy for your money !
I am uploading a few snaps of the phone for you , who knows this might be your next pick

Good Evening,
I had night mares yesterday and the fiercest of dreams i ever had in my life and i don’t need to mention what it could be about. What happened at mumbai in the past few days has been a shocker to the whole nation and i am no exception.
Before i write more i would like to salute the brave sons of this nation who sacrificed their lives to keep us and india secure.
I have been hearing bomb blasts, gun firing, ambulances and fire engines roaring on the TV for the past 3 days. But that’s all real! Our nation has been attacked, NO! Not just the first time! I think india has off late learnt just to accept things the way they come and shown the world that how to be resilient even after the atrocious terror attacks. I may not be correct when i say india here, because i know there are millions of indian citizens who have shown anger and anguish and demanding action for what has happened, but if you guessed it right it is the political system of our country and our own politicians i am talking about who are supposed to be ruling the country.
I think the politicians have failed to realize what that they exist for and the purpose of them being elected in a democracy. They need to realize that they enjoy a peaceful life because of the millions of soldiers guarding the borders, the commandos who stand at their feet in the hours of distress, and the commandos who form their z-security. Most of our politicians look at gaining political mileage and add political flavors to the situation rather than realizing that the issue is of a national cause and interest.
It is a shame that our politicians have failed to display the unity that they need to at this hour of crisis and i should appreciate the unity, courage and patriotism displayed by millions of common citizens of this country. Why have our politicians failed to realize what a common man has?
It takes a lot to face a terrorist with an AK47 than banging a table in the parliament and announcing monetary compensations to the men who sacrificed their lives to save us. Our soldiers don’t need empathy from the politicians and their families don’t need them either. None of these can return their loved ones who they lost in the mumbai tragedy (any terror debacle for that matter).
I don’t really believe that terrorism can be stopped by just tightening things inside. I think a terror attack can still happen when you have the best of security measures implemented.
Asking the concerned minister to submit his/her resignation is not a solution to the problem (sorry i am not trying to abet any political party here) this would apply to any individual of any party holding relevant positions. A Railway accident can not be attributed to the minister holding the portfolio. I am sure all of you would agree with me. Is there a single politician who can vociferously say that he/she would assure that not even a single mayhem would occur in their tenure of power? You can’t find them anywhere on this planet. I am not saying preventive measures should not be taken and the internal security should not be strengthened but the key is to destroy the problem in its root.
We are loosing people and every innocent life lost is a loss to the nation and is being unaccounted for.
Netas if you are hearing please realize the simple concept of solving an issue is to tackle the problem at it’s root…..well what and where is the root? …i think it needs no eloboration and india knows it best.
“Enough is enough” was the cry, but i suppose my dear friends, they fall on deaf ears all the time. It was heart breaking to see those mothers faint, the fathers in tears…. how long is this agony going to continue?
Now or never … we must act….who is hearing….?

Good Afternoon!
Finally i found some time for my blog , sorry i had a hectic work schedule for the past few days. I had been to a popular area for some shopping. I am sure for all bangloreans gandhi bazaar is not a new name. I was on gandhi bazaar main road and i was perplexed looking at the footpaths there.
What are the footh path’s meant for in india? After seeing the scene on the gandhi bazaar main road my answer is foothpaths are meant for everything else other than pedestrians walking. What a irony!!!
I found that the footpath’s had literally no place for the foots
. They were choked with street side vendors selling all sorts of things . There is absolutely no space to walk freely (forget the free think just walk) . This menace continues for about a kilometer on either sides of the road.
Another problem is parking. In bangalore “It’s not how you drive , it is where you park!” .There is a need for additional parking space and the existing space does not suffice the wave of people in the area. Also the existing parking areas are quite far from the core of shops.
I understand that the area is a old one and quite well developed and probably a favourite place for people of all ages with a bunch of colleges around adding to the crowd. The number of police men in such a densely populated area is way inferior to what it needs to be. This is causing a huge traffic jam almost every day and people struggling to find a place to park their transport.
It would be better that the street side vendors who earn their piece of bread out of the petty business they do be provided with a alternate place so that the main road is not choked. I think the concerned authorities should work out something else very soon it would be almost impossible to drive on the gandhi bazaar main road.
Well , pics say a thousand words , take a look !

Hi All,
I am back after a long break. Sorry for not being around for a while. Had been to the city of palaces a couple of weeks back. On the way back we decided to drop in at the famous mysore zoo.
It was a sunday and the crowd was not as much as we thought it would be. We had no problems getting the tickets.
I should agree that the zoo isn’t the same as it was 10-15years back , it just means there aren’t as many animals as there were earlier. Yet it is a place to visit because what ever you get to see is still worth the money.
The best thing that struck me was the concept of adopting animals. The zoo management has enabled ways that any body can adopt an animal for a chosen time duration. Yes we can be responsible for a life! A generous contribution from us would ensure that another living being leads a decent life (i can obviously not call it a satisfactory life because animals lead the best life at their natural habitats)
Though it sometimes is painstaking to see the animals which were supposed to be tramping around the forests in freedom being curtailed to cages and marked boundaries , yet i think the animals in the zoo are being looked after in a humane way.
The whites drew my attention this time (A white peacock and a white tiger) were the most astonishing creatures. I bet no software can design them the way they have been created by god. What a pack of wonderful creatures !
Well , i saw another intresting thing , one of the leopard’s showing its acrobatic skills , lucky i was to capture it live on my camera. I know it’s time for pictures and some clips , here they are !

Good evening !
Yes , yes i have not been here for a while , i agree and apologize. Have been busy with work. Well work in IT is no more a cakewalk considering the current global economic crisis. There are reasons , reasons and just reasons for the salary payers to make your life miserable.
This is a time where all the empty vessels in the industry have started making a lot of noise never like before. I am talking about parasites that have been feeding on others efforts silently all these while and who are now making the life of deserving candidates miserable for their own survival. I had to write this because that is what i see and have been seeing for nearly a year now.
It is during crisis like what we are seeing that these parasites besides eating up resources from with in corporates turn out to be man eaters and try to search their prey not just inside but where ever they think they can.
Yes , it is a expression of frustration nevertheless a reality. If you are a keen observer and have been in the industry for a while you can understand what i have been hinting at and hear the noises these empty vessels are making. To all the deserving professionals out there beware !

Hi All,
The dragon has started spitting fire yet again. The latest arunachal controversy seems to have perturbed mother india’s tranquility . Though not new the chinese are neighbours who have to be delt cautiously as they are not the same in might as our western neighbours. BTW why is china poking its nose again and showing a aggressive posture towards india? A pack of reasons come in to everybody’s mind , but i personally feel that china wants to make its presence felt and wants to prevail as the asian superpower , but for obvious reasons it thinks that can not be real unless it has india on its toes.
The other string attached to china’s attitude towards india is , offlate india has started seeing the united states as a strategic ally for countering terrorism and proving a point to the US and the world to expose the western neighbour’s terrorism acts and has been successful to a large extent. Now the world understands where the epicenter of terrorism lies.
China fears that the united states might gradually have a dominant hand on asia extending its arms on pakistan , projecting india as their preferred ally in the region which eventually makes china lonely. Also the 1962 indo china war has probably made china feel india can be dashed over border disputes. But every nation has militarily changed over years and india being a nuclear power is not a nation which can be threatened any more.
I think the indian military is doing the right thing by deploying forces in ladakh and other indo-china borders and it is always wise to maintain a high state of alert but at the same time be equally watchful on the western borders as we can not afford to digress from our very friendly western neighbour
.
Do you all still think indo chini bhai bhai?……

Hi All,
When we almost thought we have a stable government in karnataka , a new crisis has surfaced yet again. As you all are aware of the state BJP crisis has put the state to shame in a time when people were trying to over come the horrific flood debacle.
What are the voted representatives doing? I mean it is their fundamental duty to help people in crisis and act on the flood issue as a priority. For that matter any government immaterial of which party they belong to. The politicians can not afford to indulge in politics even in a flood releif campaign. It is ruthless to look for political mileage when trying to get people out of crisis.
Today people are shrewd enough to know if a commitment is genuine or not. The politicians need not get in to a rat race to show that they care for people. It is unfortunate that even natural debacles are being taken advantage of by our own politicans. As rightly projected by the media the politicians are resting in luxury resorts while thousands of homeless people struggle for their survival.
One good thing is that a lot of public support has evolved on the flood releif operations and it is good to see indian public caring for their counterparts in trouble while people who are legally elected to care for them are busy in political lobbies. The karnataka people have to be proud of the brothers and sisters who are lending a helping hand. Reddyappa’s are you listening?

Hi All,
The recent Telangana developments have come in uninvited. It makes me think where are we heading as a nation? As a democratic country we should look at ways of living and ruling in consenses. There are enough problems in the country that we are dealing with and developments likes these just add to it. We indians should learn to live together and not get back to the age old british tactics of divide and rule policy and instigate unwanted voilence/issues in the country.
We have very wary neighbours who are waiting to divide our country and developments/demands like these will be a welcome stand for the enemies.
It would be no surprise going forward if people said that they want their cities/towns to be a seperate state ( or even country who knows
). At this rate i am not sure how many states would india have eventually.
I request all the telangana seeking citizens to give this a second thought . We have a identity today because of the country we live in. Let us not get in to this splitting business even more and show the world that integrity and sovereignty are just on paper in our country. For heaven sake let us live with what we have and learn to live better……make this nation stronger……

Hi All,
I am a ardent music fan and have learnt classical music myself for a few years. Thanks to my parents for encouraging me to do that. I know how important a role music has played in my life. Well if you think i intend to talk about my self in this post …. sorry i don’t have that on my mind.
I owe a lot to a person for my interests in classical music and the person is none other than the living legend , the Mastero , the one and the only Dr.M.Balamuralikrishna. In my personal opinion Dr.BMK (as he is popularly known) is another dimension to indian classical (karnatic) music. My interests in music refactored a million times only after i started listening to this great mastero.
If you wondered what is that i like the most about the legend , i would say there is nothing that a true music lover would not like about this legend. The ever charming voice , his unchallengable alapanas , his undisputed gamakas , the swords perfection in swaras , his ever ending creativity , his sense of humor and the list goes on…. Dr.BMK is undoubtedly a synonym for karnatic music and in my opinion the undisputed king of indian classical music. It is relieving to know that the master has been awarded most of the highest awards in the country but i really wish and pray he gets the bharat ratna which he deserves .
Some of my personal favourites sung by the mastero: Devadhi deva , Pibare Ramarasam , Tualsi dala mulache , Nagumomu , Maneyolagado govinda , Radhika Krishna , Ra Ra maa intiki , Meenakshi jayada varada …….and any thing that this legend has and would sing…..
Long live Dr.BMK….
